We are proud to announce that our Principal Consultant, Kibri Hutchison Everett, has been invited to serve on the Working Group for the Empowering Health and Sustainability (EHS) initiative.
This initiative, supported by the Kresge Foundation and led by the B.O.S.S. network, is focused on expanding renewable energy infrastructure in hospitals that primarily serve communities of color. The project brings together experts, community leaders, and solar industry partners to create a roadmap that strengthens hospital resilience, lowers energy costs, and builds wealth through partnerships with Black-owned solar businesses.
Connecting Health and Energy Equity
Hospitals are cornerstones of community health and safety. They also operate around the clock and consume significant amounts of energy. Ensuring that these critical facilities have access to clean, reliable, and affordable energy is both a public health priority and an equity issue.
At the same time, the clean energy transition presents an opportunity to support Black-owned solar providers, align with hospital supplier diversity goals, and invest directly in communities that have historically been excluded from energy and infrastructure decision-making.
Our Contribution
Through the Case Study Working Group, Ms. Everett will help document lessons learned from hospitals and solar providers nationwide. These case studies will highlight what works, what barriers remain, and how partnerships can be structured to deliver real, lasting benefits to both hospitals and surrounding communities.
This work will inform a national plan and resource hub set to launch in 2026, connecting hospitals with Black-owned solar businesses and equipping stakeholders with tools to act.
